Safety tips

  1. Sign your new Maestro card immediately upon receipt.
  2. Cut your expired Maestro card into several pieces upon receipt of your new card. Be sure that you also cut through the chip.
  3. Change the PIN code you are given at the time of issue at a Swiss ATM. When doing so, avoid number combinations that could be guessed easily.
  4. Never tell anyone your PIN code and do not write it down anywhere.
  5. Take care to ensure that the card’s magnetic strip does not become soiled or scratched.
  6. Make sure that you are not observed when entering your PIN code.
  7. Do not forget to remove your Maestro card after use.
  8. Have your card blocked immediately if it is stolen or retained by an ATM.
  9. Check the purchases and withdrawals made with your Maestro card, which appear on your account statement, on a regular basis. Contact your bank immediately if you spot any irregularities.
  10. Keep your Maestro card in a safe place and check regularly that the card is still in your possession.
