eurocheques

eurocheques are no longer being issued as of 1 January 2002, and the eurocheque guarantee has also been discontinued. The Maestro card can therefore no longer be used as a eurocheque guarantee card.

Can eurocheques still be used?
Yes, you can still use eurocheques for cashless payment. However, the guarantee for the point of acceptance has been discontinued. eurocheques are thus now equal to standardized checks (correspondence checks). In addition, eurocheques are no longer being issued as of 1 January 2002.

Can eurocheques still be accepted?
Yes, you can continue to accept payments by eurocheque. However, the guarantee of CHF 300 per eurocheque has been discontinued as of 1 January 2002. Telekurs Multipay AG therefore recommends that you only accept eurocheques in exceptional circumstances, and only from customers you know. eurocheque logos are to be removed at points of acceptance.
